Draft 2 Reflection

Analysis/Process
The second draft begins with Jordan playing the guitar whilst singing the song in front of a DIY backdrop.
This begins the video with live performance which is a commonly reoccurring theme throughout the song. This, along with the back drop, highlights the idea that he is a growing artist in contrast to an already established one. This is a common convention of indie music videos.
This gives context to the video and establishes the idea that the two characters are in a relationship. Mia is reading a weight loss magazine whilst drinking wine. This creates the image of her being quite high maintenance. The room they are in is decorated with pink decor which highlights her feminine characterisms, later to contrast with Claudia's blue and green room decor.
Mia is seen shopping in a make up shop before being pictures eating sushi.
"make up" - Lyric matching. This footage implies Mia's emphasis on personal appearance as she shops for make up products.
"shape up" - The eating of sushi suggests that Mia is trying to keep herself in good shape. Sushi is a low calorie food product that increases metabolism which conveys the idea that she is trying to lose weight.
Claudia is then pictured sleeping in bed.
She changes positions multiple times to show time passing in order to exaggerate the amount of time she spends in bed. This is intertwined with Mia shopping to exaggerate how high maintenance Mia is in comparison to Claudia.
Mia is then pictured holding a dress up to herself in a mirror.
"Paper dreams honey" - this highlights the way in which Mia tries o live up to the expectations the media places on her to look a certain way and wear certain things.
Mia throws clothes out of window at Jordan whilst shouting at him.
"Now you pour your heart out" - This is the first we see of the troubles Mia and Jordan face within their relationship. It hints at them breaking up through the fact that she throws his clothes back at him.
Jordan then proceeds to pick his clothes up off of the ground.
"You don;'t pull my strings cause I'm a better man" - this symbolises the way in which he is picking up the pieces after their toxic relationship.
Shows Claudia 'getting ready' (aka running her fingers through her hair)
"Moving onto better things" - this foreshadows the idea that Jordan will be 'moving on to' Claudia and that she therefore is the 'better things'.
